What is an E-Visa?
An e-visa (electronic visa) is a digital version of a traditional visa. Instead of visiting an embassy or mailing documents, you apply online and receive your visa electronically — usually as a PDF or a QR code. It grants you entry into a country under specific conditions, like tourism, business, or remote work.
It’s travel paperwork, minus the paperwork.
Why Does the Term Matter for Remote Workers or Digital Nomads?
E-visas have made life much easier for digital nomads. They simplify travel logistics, reduce bureaucracy, and are often processed faster than traditional visas. Many countries now offer e-visas that allow remote workers to stay longer while continuing their jobs online — whether it’s for a few weeks or several months.
For nomads, this means more flexibility, more destinations, and less red tape.
How Does Nomadico Relate to E-Visas?
While Nomadico doesn’t offer visa support or official guidance, these topics do come up often within our community. Guests swap experiences and suggestions about visa processes in our WhatsApp groups, and we offer an alumni chat where people can ask questions, share tips, or get advice from others who’ve been through it.
It’s all part of the peer-to-peer value that makes being part of the Nomadico network helpful beyond just your stay.
Common Misconceptions About E-Visas
“An e-visa means I can work remotely from anywhere.”
Not always - it depends on the specific visa type and country. Some allow remote work, while others restrict it.
“It’s automatically approved.”
E-visas can still be denied if your application is incomplete or you don’t meet the entry criteria.
“Every country offers them.”
Not yet - though e-visas are growing in popularity, many countries still rely on traditional application systems.
