Coliving in Florianópolis

Florianópolis—or "Ilha da Magia" as locals warmly call it, could easily be nominated for the most beautiful place to live in Brazil (or maybe even the world?). Located in the south of the country, this subtropical island blends lush nature with easygoing beach-town energy and a strong community of surfers, creatives, and remote workers. It’s also known for being one of the safest places in Brazil.

Our home is in Barra da Lagoa, a cozy fishing village on the island’s eastern shore that’s perfectly positioned between two incredible beaches. Right out front, you’ll find mellow, beginner-friendly waves and a lively scene with surf schools, hostels, and fellow nomads. A short walk or Uber ride brings you to wilder beaches and scenic trails with unforgettable views.

Get ready to savor delicious seafood, meet welcoming locals, and ease into island life. Floripa is one of the best places to learn how to surf, with gentle waves and plenty of local instructors to help you get started. Want to explore more? Try Hawaiian canoeing or hike the surrounding cliffs. From the moment you arrive, it’s easy to feel both grounded and inspired.

Community | Coliving Florianópolis

At every Nomadico, we have a kick-ass community manager to make sure your experience is nothing short of epic. Here’s a glimpse of the fun activities we'll enjoy together as a community:

  • Let's go surf: Floripa has a range of waves—from super gentle spots perfect for beginners to fun breaks for intermediate surfers

  • Pilates or workouts: Join us twice a week for energizing group sessions at the hostel or directly on the beach.

  • Weekly hikes: We'll explore Florianópolis’s breathtaking trails and stunning viewpoints together, discovering new adventures each week.

  • Family dinners (twice the fun!): Nomadico homes usually host one official family dinner each week, but here in Floripa, we're doubling the fun! We'll gather twice weekly for delicious barbecues, pizza nights, and other tasty meals at the hostel.

  • Canoeing and Stand-Up Paddleboarding: Let's paddle together through Floripa’s tranquil rivers.

  • Sandboarding: Join us in sliding down Floripa's impressive sand dunes (also great for the glutes walking back up!).

  • Nightlife: Let's explore the island and enjoy the fun bars nearby.

Floripa offers endless activities and incredible hiking trails, and we can’t wait to explore them all with you. Come ready to join the fun!

Homes | Coliving Florianópolis

Patricia's home in the upper part of Barra da Lagoa has 2 comfortable private rooms and 3 spacious dorms (14 beds in total). With a bright open kitchen, churrasqueira (Brazilian BBQ), and a dining area filled with natural light, it's perfect for family dinners. There’s also a rooftop terrace for sunset views and plenty of spaces to relax.

Oh, and we do have three very friendly dogs (Sorriso, Catita, and Guará) who were all rescued and now enjoy the good life alongside our guests. They’re always happy to say hi (or join you for a walk).

Cle’s home is surrounded by nature and was lovingly built 30 years ago to celebrate it. With solar power, a salt-treated pool, and rainwater reuse, it’s a peaceful and eco-friendly place to stay.

There are 3 suite rooms and 1 apartment, each offering a quiet retreat. Cle brings her love for art, music, and food into the home, and sometimes invites guests to join her for a grilled fish dinner or pizza from the wood-burning oven. As a journalist who’s sailed the island, she’s full of tips on hidden trails and local gems.

Workspace | Coliving Florianópolis

Both of our homes in Florianópolis offer inspiring spaces to get work done. Count on natural light, calming greenery, and of course, fiber optic WiFi.

Patricia's home has plenty of comfortable spots to work from, both inside and out. Think garden views, cozy corners, and breezy seating areas throughout the house. For focused sessions, there's also a dedicated coworking space with desks and ergonomic chairs that fits up to four people.

Cle’s home has several great work setups as well: spacious long tables filled with natural light, leafy outdoor nooks, and quiet indoor corners for when you need extra focus. There’s also an art gallery room with a desk and ergonomic chair, ideal for calls or when you need a bit more privacy. Whether you’re knocking out deep work or casually replying to emails, you’ll find a spot that works for your flow.

Location: Barra Da Lagoa | Coliving Florianópolis

  • The beach is a 5 min walk.

  • Preserved nature all around

  • Supermarkets 2 min walk from home

  • The airport is a 40min Uber drive (€10).

Barra da Lagoa is one of those places that quickly makes you feel at ease. Just a 5-minute walk from our home, you’ll reach two very different but equally special beaches, Barra da Lagoa and Praia do Moçambique. The first is great for grabbing a bite at a seaside spot like Sombrero Restaurante or trying a surf lesson with locals at Barra Floripa Surf School (FYI; Floripa's Barra Da Lagoa is epic to learn how to surf - the waves are gentle). Walk a bit further and the beach turns wilder, quieter, Moçambique is where you go for long walks and empty stretches of sand.

Nearby, you’ll find the Projeto TAMAR center, where rescued sea turtles are cared for until they’re ready to head back to the ocean. It’s worth a visit.

A little further down, the Canal da Barra da Lagoa is where local fishers cast their lines and sell the catch of the day. If you look closely along the rocks, you’ll spot ancient markings left behind by the Sambaqui people, evidence of life here thousands of years ago.
