Amélie's Home is designed to spill outdoors, with covered verandas wrapping the house, a quiet mezzanine tucked upstairs, and a garden that feels like part of the living space rather than separate from it. Natural light and fresh air move through most rooms, giving the house an open and airy feel.

Work with the ocean breeze
You’ll be able to work from the shared workspace, your room (most have their own desk), or one of the covered outdoor areas around the house. The upstairs veranda and mezzanine also give you extra spots to change your scenery. Calls can be taken from the privacy of your room.
Between work duties, go for a swim, stretch, lift weights at the gym or swing in a hammock. And when you want a change of pace, Salvador is close enough for a workday in the city, surrounded by cool buzzing cafés.

Life here revolves around the ocean and the welcoming people you’ll meet. A typical week is full of breezy ocean vibes, with sunrise or sunset swims alongside cute little turtles. During the day, we'll have plenty of space for yoga, beach walks and shared dinners.
We might explore cute markets in Jauá, head to Arembepe or Praia do Forte, or spend an afternoon discovering Salvador. The community can also get involved in local projects (including sea turtle conservation), join small creative workshops, gather around bonfires, or simply hang out and have a chat on the beach.
The local culture is a big part of the experience. Jauá sits within a region shaped by beautiful Afro-Brazilian traditions, live music, delicacies and community life. Learning a few words of Portuguese can go a long way too. Even a simple “bom dia” and a willingness to connect can open the door to more genuine interactions with local people (as well as dancing with them ;)

Bahia, Brazil
Bahia's Litoral Norte is a long stretch of Atlantic coastline shaped by fishing villages, lagoons and Atlantic rainforest, with coconut palms and a warm, tropical climate that stays between roughly 21–30°C (70–86°F) year-round. October through February is the warmest, sunniest stretch, overlapping with Carnival, while the rest of the year brings short, heavy showers which make it pleasantly cool. It's also shaped by a strong Afro-Brazilian culture: music, food, crafts and traditions.
Life along this coast moves slower than the city, built around surfing, swimming and long beach walks rather than nightlife. Salvador is a 30min Uber ride away from our home for museums, markets or Pelourinho's old town, without needing to live in the middle of it.
This stretch of Bahia offers a different rhythm from Brazil’s bigger digital nomad hubs. It’s a place for slow travel, beach life and getting into a good work routine, with plenty to explore along the coast.
Jauá, Bahia
You’ll be living in Jauá, a cute fishing village on Bahia’s coast where the beach is literally a few steps from your bed. During the day, it’s a relaxed residential area with local shops, a couple of restaurants, small businesses and life that generally happens floating in water.
Corais de Jauá does a solid moqueca (traditional Brazilian seafood stew), and there’s a small farmers’ market every Saturday morning.
At night, it gets genuinely quiet, perfect for stargazing and enjoying the sound of waves, which is exactly what many guests come here for. You can also explore nearby Arembepe, Guarajuba and Praia do Forte, or head further afield for a longer trip. When you want more variety, Salvador is around 20–30 minutes away by Uber, with restaurants, bars, nightlife and museums.
It’s a residential area, not a tourist strip, and it really feels that way. People know their neighbours, and locals are generally super friendly. Basic precautions apply here as anywhere in Brazil, but day to day, it’s calm, with a laid-back pace that makes you feel grateful to be there.

I had such a recharging time at Amelie's home. I stayed for almost 2 weeks but it wasn’t enough. The place has an unbeatable location, right on the beach! Listening to the ocean 24/7, watching the sunrise and the moonrise, long walks on the empty beach, swims at any time, the dream. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. The house itself is great, everything from the kitchen, garden, inside and outside workspace were arranged with care and love.
Amelie and Gutemberg are very nice and welcoming people, they wanted to make sure I had the best experience possible and we shared great moment together, including going to a local celebration and dancing for hours, tasting some good food around town and making compost. I was able to enjoy nature and catch up with my work which was perfect.
Also Aia and Pantera (the dog and cat) kept me company and entertained and are just the cutest.
I can’t wait to come back. I recommend this place 100%, you will not regret it.

The ocean on her doorstep, the local community she felt drawn to support and its proximity to Salvador made it the little paradise she had always dreamed of being part of.

Fly into Salvador (SSA), then Uber straight to Jauá, about 20–30 minutes depending on traffic.

No. Daily life is walkable, and Uber covers everything further out. A local bus exists but runs slower and less often, especially at night.

Yes. The house has fiber-optic WiFi and a workspace. For calls and meetings, you can use your desk in your private room, which has a desk and chair for more focused calls.
Nearby shops
Small supermarkets and a fishmonger within walking distance, plus a Saturday farmers' market. For a bigger or organic selection, it's a short Uber to Vilas do Atlântico or Abrantes.
What to do in the area
Plenty, especially if you love being outdoors. Think surfing, swimming, lagoons and long beach days, with coastal towns and nature to explore nearby. Salvador is also close enough for an easy day trip when you’re in the mood for more culture, food and city life.
Is it safe?
You will be living in a quiet residential coastal area - beach walks at night feel safe. Normal Brazil precautions apply: keep valuables out of sight, stay aware in unfamiliar areas, take Uber for late trips.
