Coliving & Remote Work Glossary
What is a Community Dinner?
A community dinner is a shared meal where people living together — whether in a coliving space, retreat, or shared house — gather to cook, eat, and connect. It’s often the social heartbeat of the week, bringing everyone together in a relaxed, homey setting.
It’s not about the menu — it’s about the people around the table.
Why Does a Community Dinner Matter for Digital Nomads or Remote Workers?
When you’re far from family or familiar faces, something as simple as a shared meal can create real connection. Community dinners help build trust, spark new friendships, and give structure to the sometimes floaty rhythm of nomadic life.
For remote workers, it’s a chance to unwind, shift out of work mode, and feel part of something bigger than their to-do list.
How Does Nomadico Relate to Community Dinners?
At Nomadico, we host a community dinner every Tuesday in all our homes — but we call it a family dinner. The community manager asks in the group chat how everyone would like to contribute: cooking, groceries, cleaning, or just showing up.
After the meal, there’s a short check-in where the group shares ideas for the upcoming week (besides work), and the community manager helps turn those ideas into real plans. It’s simple, meaningful, and often the moment when the house starts to feel like home.
Common Misconceptions About Community Dinners
“It’s a formal or fancy event.”
Not even close. It’s casual, communal, and open to everyone — messy aprons and all.
“You have to cook.”
Contributing can mean anything — chopping veggies, setting the table, or doing dishes counts too.
“It’s mandatory.”
Totally optional — but once you’ve been to one, you’ll probably want to come back.
