LIZ's HOME

With views of Table Mountain from the terrace, this home has plenty of history. Originally built as stables, it was transformed into a family home in the 1950s and now opens its doors to our community.

WORKSPACE

Work, Recharge & Explore

Work from the bright sun room overlooking the garden, settle into the character-filled workspace with its high ceilings, or retreat to the call room or your desk in your room when you need extra focus.

Between work sessions, cool off in the pool, squeeze in a workout, or recharge in the shady garden. And while Cape Town was once known for load shedding, power outages have become increasingly rare and the house is equipped with solar energy and fiber internet to keep you connected. When it's time for caffeine, the kitchen is just next door for a moka pot brew, with several great cafés within a short walk.

COMMUNITY

Local · Connected · Adventurous

Our coliving feels more like a local home than a base for tourists. Set in a safe Victorian neighbourhood, daily life here moves easily between focused work, shared meals, garden conversations, padel, gym sessions and a happy hour after work, all within walking distance. Nature is woven into that rhythm too, from walks or picnics with the community at Arderne Gardens to weekday hikes and weekend trips to Table Mountain or Muizenberg Beach for surfing. Our home is well connected by train, so in just 25 minutes, both the coastline and Cape Town city centre, with its events and change of pace, feel like part of life here.

From hosts to guests and our Community Manager, everyone helps co-create a welcoming community rooted in shared rituals, outdoor adventures, and genuine connection.

Kenilworth, Cape Town

Kenilworth is one of Cape Town's leafy Southern Suburbs, known for its Victorian homes, village feel, and easy access to both nature and the city. Originally part of the historic Stellenberg farm, the area has grown into a relaxed residential neighbourhood with cafés, restaurants, gyms, parks, local markets, and plenty of everyday conveniences nearby.  The area is considered safe and quiet, sitting right on the border of Claremont.

The house sits on the lower slopes of Table Mountain, perfectly positioned for exploring the city. Three major shopping hubs are within walking distance, the train line to the city centre and Muizenberg is just a few minutes away, and the world-famous Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden can be reached on foot or run (5k) through the beautiful suburb of Bishopscourt.

From mountain hikes and wine farms to beaches, food markets, and weekend adventures, there is more to do here than we could ever fit on this page. That's why every guest receives our local guide packed with recommendations and Google Maps pins to help you discover Cape Town like a local.

Kenilworth - opening September

This opening month is an invitation to co-create Nomadico Cape Town with us: 10% off. Meet Liz, her family and the people who make this house special, discover the stories behind the property, and help shape the community from day one

Three opening events

During the first 3 weeks, our hosts will plan three special opening experiences:

A New Chapter Braai
Hosts Liz and Tim will share the story behind this new chapter of the house. We'll mark the occasion with a community intention-setting moment before gathering for a traditional South African braai cooked by Tim and an evening of conversation and connection.

Kalk Bay by Train
Liz’s favourite day trip. We'll take the local train to Kalk Bay for fish and chips at the iconic Kalky's, then walk the coastline past the colourful beach huts of St. James and its tidal pool.

Paint, Sip & Leave Your Mark
Artist Annie will host a relaxed Paint & Sip evening for all levels, paired with wines from our neighbour Bruce Jack, an internationally awarded winemaker. Together, our pioneer nomads will create a community mural, leaving a lasting mark for future guests to build on.
Come early. Meet the hosts. Help shape the house.

Meet our local partners

Liz & Tim have called this house home since 2002, raising their three sons here while making the most of everything Cape Town has to offer. Now that their sons are grown up, they're preparing for a new adventure of their own. Self-described "grey nomads", they're excited to spend part of each year exploring the world while welcoming fellow nomads into the home they've cared for over two decades.

---

"We've always believed that travel keeps you curious, no matter your age. After raising our family here, we're excited to become nomads ourselves and discover more of the world. In the meantime, we can't wait to share our home, our neighbourhood, and a little bit of the Cape Town lifestyle with others on their own journey."

“I wasn't sure what to expect in Kenilworth after living in more popular areas like Sea Point, but after one week, it was really hard to leave. The location is perfect for balancing work and play and lets you explore parts of Cape Town you would totally miss otherwise. It feels like a more local experience since it's not a touristy area.

Alhough it’s still walkable and has access to everything you need. The area is peaceful and has more green spaces than the city. The home is welcoming, spacious, and absolutely perfect for family dinners. It’s a great place for nomads who want to explore all that Cape Town has to offer, but with a more local and chill vibe."

FAQ

How to get to Nomadico?

From Cape Town International Airport (CPT)

  • 🚖 Uber/Bolt – 20 min for just €10,-

  • 🚗 Rent a Car – €300-500 monthly; great if you want to explore freely.

We recommend using the official Uber or Bolt apps rather than accepting rides from drivers approaching you at the airport. We'll send detailed arrival instructions before check-in and are happy to help coordinate your arrival.

Kitchen & laundry facilities

The house has a fully equipped shared kitchen where you can prepare your own meals and store groceries. There is a laundry machine on-site and several wash and dry services nearby.

Public transport - do I need to rent a car?

Not necessarily. Most guests get around comfortably using Uber, Bolt, trains, and occasional buses. The train station is a short walk away and connects to both Cape Town city centre and the False Bay coastline. If you're planning regular weekend trips to wine farms, national parks, or more remote areas, renting a car can be convenient, but for everyday life it's not essential.

How to book & pay

  • Book directly through our website.

  • Payment is secure and flexible - we accept credit card, Wise, iDEAL, Apple & Google Pay or bank transfer.

Once booked, you’ll receive a guide with local tips and arrival info.

Is it expensive?

  • Cape Town offers great value for what you get.

  • Local meals are $5–8, coffee $2–3, and sunsets are free daily.

  • Tourist areas are pricier, but living well here doesn’t mean spending big.

Coworking - can I take calls & rely on good Wi-Fi?

Absolutely. The house is designed with remote work in mind, featuring reliable high-speed Wi-Fi, a dedicated workspace, a separate call room, and plenty of quiet corners for focused work. Many guests also enjoy taking calls from the shady garden or terrace. Several work-friendly cafés are within walking distance if you're looking for a change of scenery.

Nearby shops

You'll find everything you need within walking distance. Supermarkets, cafés, pharmacies, gyms, restaurants, and shopping centres are all nearby, making it easy to settle into daily life without needing a car

What to do in the area

You're perfectly positioned to explore Cape Town. Hike up Table Mountain, visit Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, spend the day at Muizenberg Beach, discover local markets, explore wine farms in Constantia, or enjoy the cafés and restaurants around Harfield Village. Cape Town also has a packed events calendar, with festivals, concerts, food markets, sporting events, and cultural happenings taking place throughout the year.

Is it safe?

Kenilworth is considered one of Cape Town's safer residential suburbs and is popular with families, students, and professionals. As with any large city, it's important to use common sense, avoid walking alone late at night, and follow local advice. Most guests find the area comfortable, friendly, and easy to navigate.

Is there a community manager?

Yes! Like all Nomadico homes, a Community Manager helps bring the experience to life. They organise activities, introduce guests to one another, share local recommendations, and help create a welcoming atmosphere. Participation is always optional, but there's usually something happening if you'd like to join.
