Cost of living Ericeira

Compared to other towns in Portugal, Ericeira isn’t the cheapest, especially in the center or near the beach—prices reflect its popularity with surfers and nomads. But if you stick to local cafĂ©s and explore neighborhoods outside the main tourist spots, you can definitely keep your costs down. There’s something for every budget if you know where to look.

A day in the life of a Digital nomad in Ericeira

Find out what you can do as a digital nomad here during the week and the weekend.

During the week

Depending on your work timezone, you might kick off your morning with a run along Foz do Lizandro beach or a yoga session to get your energy up. Grab a coffee with other nomads at Mother Ericeira or Hurley Surf Club, or swing by the local market for fresh pastries and fruit. If you’re working early, you’ll have the afternoons free for a surf session - Ericeira is a World Surfing Reserve, after all - or a stroll through the cobblestone streets. Evenings are for unwinding: join a nomad meetup, catch sunset at Pescadores Beach, or try local favorites like Adega Bar 1987 for dinner. There’s always something happening, from casual game nights to spontaneous group dinners. Whether you’re here for a week or a season, you’ll find it easy to connect, explore, and make Ericeira feel like home.

On the weekend

Start your weekend in Ericeira with breakfast at a seaside cafĂ©, soaking in the Atlantic views. Spend the day at Praia do Sul - perfect for sunbathing, swimming, or catching a few waves if you’re feeling adventurous. If you’re after a quieter spot, head to Foz do Lizandro, where the wide sandy beach and laid-back vibe make it easy to unwind (don’t forget your sunscreen and a good book). Looking to explore beyond town? Take a short drive to Mafra and wander through the stunning National Palace and its lush gardens. Back in Ericeira, catch the sunset at Pescadores Beach, then grab dinner at a cozy local restaurant or join a nomad meetup. Whether you’re here for the surf, the food, or the community, Ericeira’s weekend energy is all about good vibes and new friends.

How to get to Ericeira

Ericeira is just a 40-minute drive from Lisbon Airport, making it super easy to reach by car, taxi, or shuttle. There are also regular buses from Lisbon if you prefer public transport. Many nomads continue their journey to other surf towns in Portugal, like Peniche or Lagos, or head to cities like Porto or even hop over to Spain. If you have extra time, I highly recommend exploring Lisbon—it’s full of energy, history, and amazing food.
