Location & Culture | Digital nomads Florianópolis

Florianópolis, or “Floripa,” sits on a lush island in southern Brazil, just a quick flight from São Paulo or Rio. The city is famous for its stunning beaches, fresh seafood, and laid-back surf culture. You’ll find everything from cozy bakeries serving pão de queijo to lively beach bars pouring caipirinhas. Nearby, Lagoa da Conceição buzzes with cafes, art, and nightlife, while quieter villages like Barra da Lagoa offer a more relaxed vibe. Floripa feels super international, with a big digital nomad scene and friendly locals, making it easy to feel at home and safe.

Activities | Digital Nomads Florianópolis

Florianópolis might be an island, but there’s way more to do than just surf (though the waves are epic). Depending on the season, you can hike lush trails, try sandboarding at Joaquina, join a beach volleyball game, or unwind with yoga by the sea. Take a Brazilian cooking class, explore local markets, or just chill at a café in Lagoa da Conceição. There’s always something happening, no matter your vibe.

Coworking in Florianópolis

The digital nomad scene in Florianópolis is thriving, with new laptop-friendly cafés and coworking spaces popping up all the time. You’ll find fiber optic WiFi, ergonomic chairs, and plenty of natural light in most spots, but keep in mind that standards can vary from place to place. Not every coworking has backup internet, and the vibe is more laid-back than in big cities. Still, it’s easy to find your groove and connect with fellow nomads.

NOMADICO WORKSPACE FLORIANÓPOLIS

Our Nomadico homes in Floripa are set up so you can get straight to work - or straight to the beach. Both coliving spaces come with fiber optic WiFi, plenty of natural light, and comfy work setups that make it easy to find your flow. At Patricia’s, you’ll find cozy indoor nooks, breezy garden spots, and a dedicated workspace with ergonomic chairs for those deep-focus days. Over at Cle’s, think sunlit long tables, leafy outdoor corners, and even a private art gallery room for calls or creative bursts. Whether you’re powering through meetings or just catching up on emails with a coffee, there’s always a spot that fits your vibe. And when you’re ready for a break, you’re just minutes from the sand and surf. Work hard, chill harder - Floripa style.

COOL COWORK OFFICE FLORIANÓPOLIS

This coworking spot in Lagoa da Conceição is a go-to for digital nomads who want a professional setup without losing the island vibe. You’ll get fast WiFi, air conditioning, ergonomic chairs, and proper desks. Prices are mid-range (around 12 USD/day) but can drop if you book by the week or month. Perks? Free coffee and water, a super friendly community, and you’re steps away from great cafés and the lake for a quick break. It never feels too packed, so you can actually focus. Downsides: Some of the chairs could use an upgrade, and the WiFi can get spotty during peak hours (especially if there’s a storm). But overall, it’s a solid choice if you want to get work done and still feel like you’re on vacation.

CAFÉ CULTURA

Café Cultura in Lagoa da Conceição is a favorite hangout for digital nomads in Floripa. The WiFi is solid, the coffee is excellent, and there’s plenty of comfy seating - so you can actually settle in and get stuff done. The vibe is super relaxed and friendly, making it easy to strike up a conversation with other travelers or just enjoy the background buzz while you work. If you’re looking for a spot that feels both social and productive, this is it. The only thing to keep in mind is that it can get a little busy during peak hours, so if you need total quiet for calls, try to come earlier in the day or grab a seat in the back. Otherwise, it’s a great place to work, snack, and maybe even make a new friend or two.

Climate | Digital nomads Florianópolis

If you’re chasing sunshine and good vibes, Florianópolis—aka “Ilha da Magia”—is your spot. Expect mild, beach-perfect weather from October to April, with temps around 25–30°C and endless blue skies. This is the best time for surfing, hiking, and soaking up the island’s buzzing energy. From May to September, things cool off a bit (think 15–22°C), and you’ll get some rain, but the island stays lush and lively. No matter the season, Floripa’s mix of surf, nature, and a thriving digital nomad scene means you’ll always find your crew and something epic to do—whether you’re working, exploring, or just chilling by the sea.

Why go in low or shoulder season?

From April to November, Florianópolis slows down and shows off its best local vibes. The beaches are quieter, surf breaks like Barra da Lagoa and Joaquina are less crowded, and you’ll find waves for every level - whether you’re just starting out or chasing bigger swells. The weather is mild, perfect for hiking, coworking, or just chilling at a beach café. With fewer tourists, it’s easier to connect with locals and fellow nomads, and you’ll have your pick of cozy spots to stay. Just pack a light jacket - nights can get cool, and the occasional rain makes the island even greener. If you want Floripa at its most authentic, this is the time to come.

Communities | Digital nomads Florianópolis

It’s super common to bump into fellow nomads at surf lessons, coworking spaces, or just hanging out at local cafés. There’s always something happening, from game nights to art events, so you’ll never feel alone. If you’re looking for a welcoming vibe and instant community, Floripa makes it easy to find your crew.

Cost of living Florianópolis

Compared to other cities in Brazil, Florianópolis isn’t exactly a budget destination—especially in the popular beach neighborhoods. Prices can be higher than you’d expect, thanks to the island’s popularity with both locals and tourists. Stick to local spots and off-the-beaten-path cafés, though, and you’ll find ways to keep your spending in check.

If you’re working early hours, you’ll have your afternoons free to surf mellow waves at Praia da Barra, hike the lush trails around Matadouro, or just chill by the pool at the villa. If you’re up for exploring, take a day trip to Santo Antônio de Lisboa, a charming historic village with colorful houses, seafood restaurants, and sunset views over the bay. Wrap up your day with fresh seafood at O Timoneiro, then check out the local nightlife in Lagoa—whether you want a cozy bar or a beach party, there’s always something happening.
