A few minutes from the beach, cafés, taco spots, and the famous Zicatela surf break. Work, surf, and enjoy one of the town's most iconic neighbourhoods.

WORKSPACE

Work, Surf & Chill

Most guests split their time between the rooftop workspace, their room desk, nearby cafés, and the beach. The rooftop is open-air, with ocean views, a sea breeze, and the sound of the waves in the background. It's perfect for focused mornings and relaxed afternoons between surf sessions.

For those who want to keep extra cool, half of the bedrooms have AC and can be used as a workspace. There are also several AC coworking spaces just a short scooter ride away.

Mornings begin slowly with an ocean breeze, a surf session or yoga at a local studio, and everyone eases into their own rhythm. During the day, connection happens casually in the workspace, through kitchen chats, shared meals, and nearby cafés to work from. Evenings are for hanging out at the beach, playing volleyball or just chilling at a bar, enjoying the vibrant community in Puerto and ending with delicious Mexican food.

 

Weekends open with beach-hopping, more surf, local markets, or a longer escape towards Mazunte and Zipolite. From hosts to guests and our Community Manager, everyone helps co-create a home base.

Zicatela, Puerto Escondido

Pack your flip-flops, or leave them at home altogether. This is barefoot beach life. Surfboards lean against café walls, sunset plans happen on the fly, and nobody seems to be in much of a hurry.

Caféolé, Dan's Café Deluxe, Pepe's Tacos, La Olita, Mercado Zicatela, surf shops, beach bars, and sunset spots are all within walking distance of the house. You'll live in the residential side of Zicatela, close to the action but far enough away that you're not listening to the nightlife when you're trying to sleep.

One thing you'll notice quickly: the waves here are huge. Playa Zicatela is known as the Mexican Pipeline and attracts some of the world's best big-wave surfers. Watching them from the beach is highly recommended. Joining them is recommended only if you really know what you're doing.

​

You'll find plenty of other surf nomads at La Punta (25 minutes on foot) and the nearby beaches with more beginner-friendly waves.

FAQ

How to get to Nomadico?

  • From Europe: Fly to Mexico City (MEX), then take a 1h45 domestic flight to Puerto Escondido (PXM) with Volaris, Viva Aerobus, or Aeromexico.

    • Alternative: Fly to Oaxaca City (OAX) and continue by bus or private transfer (3–4h, scenic route).

  • From the Americas: Some direct flights from Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas, or Phoenix. Otherwise, connect via Mexico City.


🚕 From PXM Airport to the house :

  • Colectivo: Quick and cheap shared rides along main routes.

  • Taxi: Easy to find; negotiate before departure

Kitchen & laundry facilities

The house has two large shared kitchens stocked with the essentials for cooking at home, plus free drinking water and coffee.


There isn't a washing machine on-site, but Lavandería Las Brisas is just a 4-minute walk away and offers affordable wash-and-fold services.

Public transport - do I need to rent a car?

No. Most guests get around on foot, by bicycle, or by scooter. The beach, restaurants, cafés, bars, and Mercado Zicatela are all within walking distance. If you want to explore more of Puerto Escondido, scooter rentals are affordable and popular among nomads.

Is it expensive?

Affordable overall. Local meals are $3–6, smoothies around $2, but beach clubs and expat spots cost more. Still, you can live very comfortably here.

Coworking - can I take calls & rely on good Wi-Fi?

Yes. Uriel's home has reliable fiber optic internet throughout the property, plus a Starlink backup connection. Every room includes a desk and chair, and there is a rooftop workspace with ocean views. Many guests take calls from their rooms or quieter corners of the house. If you prefer air-conditioned coworking spaces, you'll find several options nearby.

Nearby shops

Everything you need for daily life is within walking distance. Mercado Zicatela is about 8 minutes away for fresh fruit, vegetables, and local products. You'll also find convenience stores, pharmacies, cafés, restaurants, surf shops, and ATMs nearby.

What to do in the area

Surf, beach-hop, watch the sunset, take a yoga class, learn Spanish, explore local markets, or simply slow down for a while. Zicatela is known for its surf culture, lively beach bars, and famous sunsets. You can also visit La Punta, swim at calmer nearby beaches, take boat tours, go dolphin watching, or join one of the many activities organized by the local nomad community.

Is it safe?

Yes. Puerto Escondido is safe and laid-back. Use common sense and don't go poorly lit areas at night and you’ll be just fine.

Is there a community manager?

Yes! Our Nomadico community manager lives on-site and helps organize surf sessions, yoga, and taco nights.
