Coliving & Remote Work Glossary
What is a Dedicated Desk?
A dedicated desk is a specific desk in a coworking space that’s reserved just for you. Unlike a hot desk, it’s yours for the duration of your membership or stay — meaning you can leave your monitor, plant, or favorite mug there and return to the exact same setup every day.
Why Does a Dedicated Desk Matter for Digital Nomads or Remote Workers?
For remote professionals who need structure, routine, or more setup stability, a dedicated desk can be a game-changer. It offers consistency, helps with deep focus, and removes the daily hunt for a good seat.
It’s also helpful for people staying in one location for a while and looking to build a solid work rhythm.
How Does Nomadico Relate to Dedicated Desks?
Most Nomadico homes use a flexible hot desk setup in their shared workspaces, rather than assigning dedicated desks. That said, if a guest reaches out letting us know they prefer a more consistent setup, we’re happy to help. Our community manager can often find a way to arrange a more dedicated desk for someone who needs that extra bit of stability.
It’s not guaranteed in every location, but we’ll always do our best to make your workflow feel right.
Common Misconceptions About Dedicated Desks
“It’s the same as a hot desk.”
Nope — a hot desk changes daily, while a dedicated desk is your personal setup.
“Only corporate workers need them.”
Many freelancers, creatives, and remote workers love the consistency of having their own space.
“They’re always expensive.”
While more costly than hot desks, they can be cost-effective if you’re staying for weeks or months.
