Coworking in Rio de Janeiro

Rio isn’t just about beaches, caipirinhas, and samba (though… highly recommended). It’s also surprisingly workable for remote life - if you know where to set up.

Between ocean views, buzzing neighborhoods, and the occasional afternoon downpour, finding the right place to work can make a big difference. Some cafés are perfect for a quick email session, others for a full deep-work day. And if you want something more structured, there are solid coworking options too.

Below you’ll find our favorite work-friendly spots in Rio - from our own Nomadico workspace to heritage buildings and hidden gems with Sugarloaf views.

Coworking spaces in Rio de Janeiro

1. Nomadico Workspace

Let’s start with ours. At Nomadico Rio, you’ll find a dedicated coworking space with fast WiFi, A/C (essential in Rio heat), and city views to keep you inspired.

There’s a big communal table that fits eight, perfect for focused work alongside other nomads. Prefer something more chill? There’s a hammock on the balcony for relaxed calls. Need privacy? Every room has its own desk setup for quiet focus time.

And yes - there’s a cowork kitchen too. Morning coffee + getting things done = the Rio rhythm.

(Workspace access is included when you stay with us.)

2. Spaces Centro

Located inside the historic Riachuelo Theater building in central Rio, Spaces Centro blends productivity with culture. The building itself is a listed heritage site, and you’re right next to a metro station - super practical.

Inside, you’ll find a professional coworking setup, reliable internet, and plenty of nearby restaurants for lunch breaks. If you’re based in Centro or just passing through downtown, this is one of the most solid options. 📍 Spaces Centro

Laptop friendly cafes in Rio de Janeiro

1. Aussie Coffee

Healthy wraps, fresh juices, delicious cakes, and seriously good coffee. Aussie Coffee has a friendly vibe that makes it easy to stay longer than planned. There’s even a small courtyard out back - and yes, dogs are welcome.

Perfect for a few focused hours or a casual laptop session between meetings.

2. BiblioMaison (French Consulate Library)

Not a café. Not a typical coworking space. But easily one of the best remote work spots in Rio.

Located inside the French Consulate in the city center, BiblioMaison offers free entrance, strong WiFi, A/C, plenty of plugs, comfy seating - and an incredible view of Sugarloaf.

The only downside? Limited opening hours. So plan ahead. But if it’s open, it’s a gem.

Why Rio works for remote life

Rio has this way of blending productivity with pure life energy. You can answer emails in the morning, walk to the beach for a swim at lunch, and watch the sunset from a rooftop in the evening. It’s not the most “corporate” digital nomad hub - and that’s exactly the charm.

If you’re looking for a city that keeps you inspired while you work, Rio delivers.

FAQ - Coworking

What is Coworking?

Coworking is a way of working where people from different jobs, companies, or backgrounds share a common space - usually one designed for productivity, flexibility, and connection. It’s the alternative to working from home or a traditional office, especially for freelancers, remote workers, and digital nomads. It’s less about sharing a company, more about sharing an environment.

What is a Coworking Café?

A coworking café is a coffee shop that’s friendly to remote workers - offering strong WiFi, a chill atmosphere, plenty of seating, and outlets for laptops. While it’s not a formal coworking space, it serves a similar function for people who want to work in a more relaxed, social setting. Think: good coffee, background buzz, and a few hours of productive flow.

What is a Digital Nomad?

A digital nomad is someone who works remotely while traveling - using technology to do their job from anywhere in the world. Instead of being tied to an office, they move between countries, cities, or coliving spaces while staying connected to their work online. It’s a lifestyle built on freedom, flexibility, and a strong WiFi signal.

What is a Coworking Space?

A coworking space is a shared work environment where people can rent a desk or workspace - usually on a flexible basis. It’s designed for focus and collaboration, with amenities like fast WiFi, meeting rooms, coffee stations, and sometimes even nap pods or rooftop terraces. It's the office, reimagined - without the cubicles or dress codes.

What is a Workation?

A workation (work + vacation) is when someone travels to a new destination and continues working remotely while enjoying a change of scenery. Unlike a full-on holiday, you're still on the clock - but maybe with a better view and a beach walk between meetings. It’s mixing business with pleasure, on purpose.

What is Coliving?

Coliving is a modern form of shared housing where people live together, each with a private room, and share communal spaces like kitchens, living rooms, or coworking areas. But it’s more than just splitting rent - it’s about building a community.

In the digital nomad world, coliving often blends home, work, and social life into one flexible lifestyle. It’s a great way to meet like-minded people while traveling, working remotely, or exploring a new place without being alone.
